🔍 The Challenge
Following the merger of Finance of America Reverse and AAG, the company entered a significantly more restrictive legal and compliance environment. I assumed the content director role under new regulatory requirements that limited the scope, volume, and tone of consumer-facing content—particularly lifestyle and financial planning topics that were not explicitly tied to reverse mortgage education.
The original vision for editorial consumer facing content was no longer viable under these constraints. The challenge became how to adapt an existing consumer content program to a tightly regulated environment without compromising editorial clarity, usefulness, or trust.
🎯 The Strategy
Rather than attempting to force a broad lifestyle publication through an inflexible compliance framework, I recommended a strategic pivot:
Reposition content as a formal education center focused exclusively on reverse mortgage education
Translate consumer-friendly editorial standards into a compliance-first content model
Establish clear internal guidelines that balanced regulatory requirements with readability and transparency
The goal was not growth or discovery, but accuracy, consistency, and credibility—supporting both prospective customers and the internal sales organization.
🛠️ Execution
Audited, selected, and revised all existing content to meet new legal and compliance standards
Partnered closely with legal and compliance teams to interpret and operationalize guidelines
Rewrote articles to preserve clarity, empathy, and usefulness within narrow constraints
Standardized terminology, disclosures, and structural patterns across the library
Maintained editorial quality despite reduced topical flexibility and publishing volume
📈 Results & Impact
Successfully launched a compliant, consumer-facing education center under strict regulatory oversight
Delivered a complete, functional library of educational articles to support the sales pipeline
Preserved editorial integrity and clarity in a highly constrained environment
Enabled the organization to continue publishing accurate, customer-focused content during a period of regulatory transition
