Role: Managing Editor
Project Scope: Transform LegalZoom's 20-year content archive from a fragmented collection of more than 3,000 articles into a structured, governed content ecosystem designed to support discoverability, content quality, and long-term growth.
Over two decades, LegalZoom's Article Center had accumulated thousands of articles created under varying editorial, SEO, and business priorities. While the library benefited from strong domain authority and organic visibility, inconsistent quality standards, outdated information, and unclear content ownership created risks for brand trust, content maintenance, and future growth.
The challenge was not simply to improve individual articles, but to establish a scalable framework for managing a large and complex content library.
Working closely with SEO, I developed a content evaluation and governance framework to assess the value, relevance, and performance of every article in the library.
The goal was to transform the Article Center from a collection of legacy content into a strategic content asset by:
Establishing consistent quality standards
Defining content retention and optimization criteria
Improving discoverability through content organization and topic structure
Creating a governance model for future content investment and maintenance
Audited and classified more than 3,000 articles using standardized editorial and SEO criteria
Developed a content governance framework to guide retention, revision, and removal decisions
Removed or updated approximately 600 outdated, redundant, or low-value assets
Created topic hierarchies and content clusters to improve content organization and discoverability
Established editorial standards and ongoing governance processes for future content development
Partnered with SEO stakeholders to preserve search equity while improving content quality and brand alignment
Improved content quality, maintainability, and consistency across the Article Center
Reduced content debt by removing or updating approximately 40% of the archive
Established a scalable governance framework for ongoing content management
Increased the strategic value of the Article Center as a long-term brand, SEO, and customer education asset
Repositioned a fragmented legacy archive into a structured content ecosystem capable of supporting future growth
